This special issue of The Arup Journal focuses on the neglected area of design for human performance, exploring how people interact with the built environment and what this means for designers.
We explore the importance of lighting and its relationship to health and wellbeing through work we undertook with our London based lighting team following a relocation.
We also look at how technology can help us understand the way people move, through the use of our Massmotion software, allowing us to design better experiences.
