Collaborative Alliance for accelerated delivery
We worked in partnership with Alliance partner Mott MacDonald and sub-Alliance partner Aurecon, in developing the civil and structural design strategy.
Working under an integrated alliance framework, the partners shared risk, co‑located teams and made agile, data‑driven decisions to coordinate simultaneous work across five sites. Daily collaboration and open communication channels kept programme and safety priorities aligned.
Digital engineering management played a crucial role in connecting design and construction disciplines. A shared digital model enabled real‑time issue resolution, streamlined approvals and improved stakeholder engagement through the visualisation of complex interfaces. This digital integration helped maintain programme certainty and supported evidence‑based decisions at every stage of delivery.
We strengthened collaboration further by seconding team members into construction‑phase roles, embedding design expertise directly within site operations. This on‑the‑ground support accelerated design resolution, quality assurance and engagement with delivery partners, all leading up to the return of tram services in late January 2026, in time for the start of the school year.
