Asssociate Director

London, UK

Dimple Rana is an Associate Director at Arup and leader in heat resilience. She specialises in environmental physics, applying advanced modelling, climate analysis and data-driven approaches to address the growing risks of extreme heat across buildings, neighbourhoods and cities.

Dimple has led and delivered projects across the UK and internationally, spanning Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and Asia-Pacific. She was the Project Manager and Technical Lead for the UK Climate Change Committee’s national-scale study on heat impacts in the urban built environment, supporting the fourth Climate Change Risk Assessment.

Dimple led the development of Arup’s UHeat tool, integrating remote sensing, machine learning and climate science to map and assess urban heat risk. She has applied this capability across major projects for organisations including the Asian Development Bank, Auckland Council, and the Greater London Authority.

Her work focuses on translating complex climate data into practical, scalable solutions that enhance urban resilience, improve liveability, and support evidence-based decision-making for cities, infrastructure and asset owners.
