Arup is currently working with some of the largest water organisations in the UK and globally, including utilities, regulators, local and regional governments, commercial, industrial and domestic water users, and environmental stakeholders.
In July 2025, the Independent Water Commission (IWC) published the Cunliffe Review – a wide-ranging review of the water sector in England and Wales. In our submission to the IWC’s call for evidence, we recommended 10 actions for the water sector with three broad aims – to chart a path towards a clear vision for the future, to strengthen alignment within and across sectors, and to improve decision making and implementation processes across the sector.
Our recommendations reflect the insights of our water experts from the UK and across the globe, including our Young Water Professionals Network. The report includes detail on why we believe each action is needed, how it could be implemented, and examples of where good practice is already taking place.
