Last updated: February 2026
Future Ideas for Glasgow brings together bold, inventive, and actionable proposals from Arup’s early career professionals, exploring how the city can grow stronger, greener, and more connected.
The team collaborated with local leaders and stakeholders including Strathclyde Partnership for Transport, Drum Property, and Collective Architecture to reimagine how Glasgow’s spaces and infrastructure can better serve its people. Ideas range from revitalising underused rail corridors and transforming motorway sections into vibrant public squares, to creating new riverside recreational spaces and reconnecting the city with the River Clyde.
These proposals combine imagination with technical insight, fostering a city that is more inclusive, sustainable, and vibrant. This publication offers inspiration and practical approaches for anyone invested in the city’s future, highlighting how thoughtful design and long-term planning can help Glasgow thrive for generations to come.
