Bus travel along the N11/M11 corridor is set to be enhanced through the N11/M11 Bus Priority Interim Scheme (BPIS), with Arup appointed as Technical Advisors for phases 3 and 4 to progress the scheme’s planning and design in accordance with Transport Infrastructure Ireland’s Project Management Guidelines.

The scheme is being delivered as a multi‑authority project involving Transport Infrastructure Ireland, the National Transport Authority, Wicklow County Council, Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown County Council and Kildare National Roads Office. The next stages will focus on advancing the preferred option through detailed design, environmental evaluation and statutory planning processes.

The N11/M11 route connects Dublin with the southeast of the country and forms part of the Trans‑European Transport Network (TEN‑T), linking the Greater Dublin Area to Rosslare Europort. The route is also identified within the National Transport Authority’s Transport Strategy for the Greater Dublin Area 2022‑2042 as a Regional Corridor forming part of the Core Bus Network, underlining its importance to regional and national mobility.

The scheme will improve the reliability and efficiency of public transport along the corridor, enabling and encouraging more people to travel by bus while optimising existing infrastructure.

The project builds on Arup’s involvement from the earliest stages, including technical consultancy services provided during phase 1 (concept and feasibility) and phase 2 (option selection), which established the preferred option through detailed technical, environmental and economic assessment.

This appointment supports the firm’s broader role in enabling the transition to more sustainable transport modes across Ireland. Arup is currently part of the BusConnects Dublin Client Partner delivery team, supporting the delivery of core bus corridor infrastructure and has previously been involved in the design stages of BusConnects Dublin, BusConnects Cork and the BusConnects Galway Cross‑City Link project. Together, these projects reflect Arup’s continued commitment to improving public transport performance, enabling modal shift and helping cities and regions transition towards more sustainable and resilient transport networks.

The N11/M11 corridor plays a vital role in regional connectivity between Dublin and the southeast. We’re proud to continue supporting this project as it moves into its next phase, helping to progress a deliverable scheme that aligns public transport priorities with longer‑term corridor investment.
