Arup to shape a new waterfront community at Lung Kwu Tan

Once complete, Lung Kwu Tan, together with Tuen Mun West will be developed as a smart and green industrial port, home to four core industries: green energy, advanced construction, circular economy and modern logistics. The reclaimed area in Lung Kwu Tan will support the future development of green energy and advanced construction, forming a new generation of industrial park while strengthening transport connectivity in the Lung Kwu Tan area.  

Together, the four industries will promote green and smart production, spur innovation and drive economic growth whilst advance carbon neutrality, create diverse employment opportunities along the way. These benefits will reach across Hong Kong and the wider Greater Bay Area, supporting the green and smart industries prioritised in the Hong Kong Government's First Five-Year Plan.

The appointment builds on Arup's long and continuous involvement at the Lung Kwu Tan area, extending from our commission in 2023 for the Planning and Engineering Study for the Lung Kwu Tan Reclamation and Tuen Mun West Area. We were first commissioned by CEDD in the late 2000s to examine the engineering viability of reclamation and explore possible land use options, and that early feasibility study established a robust foundation for informed decision-making on the area's future.

Drawing on our track record across the major reclamations in Hong Kong over the past two decades, we have brought together a team of specialists in reclamation, hydraulics, sewage outfall and Nature-based Solutions to deliver in this phase. We remain dedicated to supporting the Government in realising a sustainable future, shaping resilient, well-connected coastal communities and delivering infrastructure that makes a lasting difference to the local communities.
