The Binnenhof is the historic and political heart of the Netherlands, home to key institutions including the Office of the Prime Minister, the Senate, the House of Representatives, the Council of State and the Hall of Knights. The extensive redevelopment programme aims to preserve the site's cultural and architectural significance while creating a secure, sustainable and resilient environment fit for the future.

Arup developed the technical masterplan for the Binnenhof, providing an integrated strategy for technical systems and building operations across the complex. Working within a highly sensitive heritage setting, we coordinated multiple technical disciplines to create a coherent and future-ready approach to infrastructure, energy performance, security and fire safety.

In addition to the complex-wide masterplan, Arup is delivering multidisciplinary designs for an integrated central energy facility, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Hall of Knights. Our work balances the requirements of a modern parliamentary estate with the preservation of one of the Netherlands' most significant historic landmarks.

By bringing together technical excellence, sustainability ambitions and heritage conservation, Arup is helping to ensure the Binnenhof remains a safe, efficient and enduring centre of Dutch democracy for generations to come.
