The 2008 Beijing Olympics was the catalyst for the transformation of Beijing’s cityscape. Arup was heavily involved in major Olympic projects, including the National Stadium (Bird’s Nest), the National Aquatics Center (Water Cube) and the Fencing Hall/National Convention Center.

Arup’s contribution goes far wider, including the strategic planning of Beijing’s road and rail network. Beijing South Railway Station welcomes over 100m passengers a year, while Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal 3 is one of the world's most sustainable airport terminal buildings expected to handle over 80m passengers a year.

The impact of Arup’s sustainable design can be seen elsewhere, notably in the sustainable and energy-efficient practices showcased in The Nokia China Campus, Changxindian low carbon community and Parkview Green FangCaoDi.

Arup’s landmark buildings include the 330m-tall China World Tower, the China Central Television Headquarters and the China Zun (Z15).
