Arup was founded by Ove Arup in 1946. Today, we are 6,000 strong in the UK, working on local, national and international projects. We are a professional services firm with a focus on the built environment and we work closely and collaboratively with our clients to develop the solutions they need today – and tomorrow. We bring deep expertise in strategy, design, planning and engineering, and our project portfolio ranges from the UK Government’s heat decarbonisation programme, to the design of new cancer treatment centres and playing a central role in engineering a more resilient rail network.

Our people in Glasgow help shape initiatives, strategies and policies that lie at the heart of the Scottish economy. With a deep understanding of the local market, we work in partnership with government organisations, universities, communities and significant public and private sector players. We are advising the UK Government as the sustainability consultant for COP26 and have supported the development of Glasgow University’s first net zero carbon strategy.

We are involved in a wide range of building and infrastructure projects across Scotland, including the state-of-the-art Macallan Distillery, the SSE Hydro and the redevelopment of Glasgow’s Queen Street Station, as well as harbour redevelopments and healthcare facilities.
