‘De Horst Estate’ is a campus for professionals in need of inspiration. The green landscape has an experimental nature, that stimulates research, reflection and knowledge exchange. A theatre, an education pavilion and two hotel buildings are added to the existing buildings.
Arup managed to limit the building costs by bringing the complex excavation to the attention of the client at early stage and by integrating the excavation into the theatre design.
A smart stability system made it possible to apply large transparent façade elements in the office building. Lifted by a fully timber structure, the hotel buildings minimise the impact on the natural environment as much as possible.
Responsible for geotechnics, structural design and building design, Arup came up with solutions for the new buildings, that brought the architectural design to a higher level.
