La Rinconada project began as the relocation of a bus station at the west entrance of the city of Caracas. However, taking advantage of the existence of other means of transport in the area and the natural richness of the surroundings, the project has evolved into a masterplan which improves the urban environment.
The design also includes new uses and facilities such as a the Caracas National Football Stadium and a baseball stadium.
A landmark project for Caracas
While our masterplanning experts helped to propose a global operation to reverse the current deterioration process; our transport and mobility consulting team's approach promoted the use of public transport and non-motorized means for internal movements. We also provided stakeholder’s management (integrating existing urban policies with community needs and interests) and sustainability consulting (designing new innovative and sustainable infrastructures).
This project, developed with Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, has become a unique opportunity to create a whole new concept with a hub combining mobility, knowledge and leisure that will improve the lifestyle of the citizens.
Completion for the overall project is expected to be in 2030.
