Built in 1912, this five star hotel is one of the most emblematic hotels of the city. With the aim of providing Madrid with a large luxury hotel establishment in line with the needs of the capital, King Alfonso XIII promoted this project to have the largest and most modern hotel in Europe.
Technology in harmony with architecture
Arup provided expertise in building services engineering for the refurbishment of the building together with the architecture team, adapting to the technological requirements of the times.

The project included the addition of new offices, a gym, a shopping mall, a PABX and a power substation.
In addition to the design of the facilities, on-site technical assistance was fundamental for the strategic planning of the interventions, as the building remained open throughout the renovation.
