The 208ha “Golf Dunes” site is located 30km from the centre of St Petersburg and alongside the Finnish Gulf in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The Dunes resort will comprise a 5-Star luxury hotel and clubhouse, with spa, luxury villas and a 27-hole golf course.
Technically this is a challenging project as much of the site is covered in peat. Specialist Arup teams in Moscow, St Petersburg and Madrid applied their knowledge and expertise in the latest peat remediation solutions, to enable construction to progress with minimal costs. This also provided significant added value to the development for the clients.
Working with Arup’s site development specialists in Madrid this clearly demonstrated how Arup's trans-national approach could be applied locally in Russia, with solutions that conform both to the highest western standards and to Russian regulations.
