Arup signed a strategic partnership agreement with Guangzhou’s Nansha District to strengthen their cooperation in the urban design and planning, engineering consulting and sustainable development for Nansha – a strategic development zone in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macau Greater Bay Area.

Leveraging its global expertise, Arup will partner with and advise the district government in the design and construction of the Nansha New Area, developing it into a high-quality demonstration zone for the Greater Bay Area.

The signing ceremony was held at the ‘Nansha Quality, Design Guide’ event hosted by the Nansha District government in Guangzhou. The agreement was signed by Arup’s Director of Cities and Advisory in China Felix Ma and Nansha’s Management Committee Deputy Director Wu Chao.

Since 2017, Arup has been providing urban planning, consulting and engineering design services in many key projects in Nansha, including Pearl Bay Area Phase II, International Finance Forum permanent conference site, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Guangzhou Campus, Qingsheng High-speed Railway Station Complex and Times China Bay Area headquarters. Arup has incorporated sustainability into these projects, driving urban development while preserving the cultural, ecological and social characteristics of the area. These efforts have laid a solid foundation for further collaboration.

This agreement marks another milestone to further our collaboration in expertise sharing and project implementation. We look forward to working closer with the government and helping Nansha realise its ambition of sustainable development by contributing our global experience and technical know-how. ”
