Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has appointed Arup to their ‘Transport Professional Services’ (TPS) framework.

Delivered over a four-year term, the TPS 2020 framework will focus on providing Greater Manchester with a wide range of transport projects and programmes. The projects will support the city region’s goal for 50% of all journeys to be made by walking, cycling and public transport by 2040 and its ambition to achieve net zero by 2038.

The firm has been awarded places on 14 lots, which cover a range of strategic and technical services including; Transport strategy and policy advice, transport systems design, environmental and sustainability services, engineering services including ‘Streets for All’ design, highway asset and network management services and consultation activity.

The appointment continues a longstanding and successful collaborative relationship between TfGM and Arup. It follows the firm’s recent work as lead advisor for the Greater Manchester Clean Air Plan and TfGM’s Active Neighbourhoods project, which sees Arup working closely with local communities to design ten low traffic neighbourhood schemes.

The new framework replaces TfGM’s previous TPS framework, which came to an end in March 2021. Over 30 participating authorities can use the framework including Transport for the North, Greater Manchester Combined Authority and many other transport, combined and local authorities across the North of England.

Arup is committed to helping cities and communities transition to a zero carbon economy. We look forward to working on this framework with TfGM, to make journeys more sustainable and help deliver inclusive growth across Greater Manchester ”
