Arup Chairperson, Eoghan Lynch, wins Outstanding Contribution to Engineering Award

The Chairperson of Arup in Ireland, Eoghan Lynch, was presented with the ESB Outstanding Contribution to Engineering Award at the 2018 Engineers Ireland Excellence Awards in Dublin on 9 November.

This award recognises the significant contributions he has made to the engineering profession during his career.

Particularly skilled in Project Managing onshore and offshore oil and gas projects, Eoghan has made an outstanding contribution to the engineering profession over the course of his work, championing many significant infrastructure projects both at home and overseas. His impressive pursuit of the best solutions for clients and his combination of skill and professionalism has made him an outstanding leader. Eoghan has worked on the engineering and management of a number of energy infrastructure projects such as the Ballycotton Field development and Kinsale Head offshore gas compression project for Marathon Petroleum; the Beattock compressor station in Scotland and the Mayo-Galway pipeline for Bord Gáis.

Accepting this award, Eoghan said, “Arup has been a great supporter of Engineers Ireland since we were established in Dublin in 1946; it´s a tremendous honour for me to accept this award on behalf of everyone working here, past and present.”

The Engineers Ireland Excellence Awards are presented in recognition of the achievements of engineers who have demonstrated exceptional skills. The M17/M18 Gort to Tuam PPP Scheme (joint entry with Barry Transportation) was shortlisted in the Engineering Project of the Year category.

Arup continues to support these leading industry awards, having sponsored this year’s Chartered Engineer of the Year Award. Aoife Murphy won this award for her work relating to earthquake-damaged residential buildings in New Zealand.
