Arup is expanding its global architectural offering with the creation of a new specialist team in Spain. Focused on the energy, transport, science and industry markets, the team will provide comprehensive architectural services as part of the firm’s multi-disciplinary design services, from concept design stage all the way to delivery.
The Madrid-based architectural practice consolidates Arup’s commitment to 'Total Design', fostering cross-collaboration across a range of built environment specialisms. Delivering functional and sustainable designs, the team in Madrid strengthens Arup’s international architectural network, with more than 250 practitioners in cities like London, Milan, Toronto, Singapore, Hong Kong and Melbourne.
Led by José Márquez, who is relocating from Arup in London, the team in Spain will strengthen the firm’s offering in emerging markets such as Latin America. Márquez brings more than 15 years of experience, including work at Mossessian Architecture and Heatherwick Studio.
Past work includes the refurbishment of a flagship office building for British Land in London, the masterplan for the Lalla Yeddouna square regeneration project in Fez and the design for Birmingham’s new high-speed interchange station.
