Arup has been honoured with a Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award - recognising the firm as one of the top ten Best Places to Work in the UK.

Positioned at #10, Arup has climbed 24 places from last year’s ranking of #34. It is the only firm operating in the built environment sector to make the top ten and is ranked alongside well-known leading technology firms, including Google and Microsoft.

The Employees’ Choice Awards programme, now in its sixth year in the UK, is based solely on the input of employees, who elect to provide feedback on their jobs, work environments and companies on Glassdoor, one of the world’s largest job and recruitment sites. Key workplace factors considered include career opportunities, compensation and benefits, culture and values, senior management and work/life balance.

Arup named in Glassdoor’s UK top ten Best Places to Work

Being the only company in the built environment to make the top ten is hugely rewarding, and is all the more meaningful for having come from our own employees’ endorsements. Our company culture is unique, and this is enabled by our employee-owned structure. This inclusive environment provides our people with the inspiration, colleagues and resources to thrive, so it is highly gratifying to see this is proving successful. ” Diane Thornhill UKIMEA People Director and Region Board Member

Christian Sutherland-Wong, Glassdoor President, Chief Operating Officer and incoming Chief Executive Officer, said: “This year marks the shift to a culture-first decade in the workplace. Glassdoor’s Employees’ Choice Awards winners are prioritising their culture and mission and putting employees at the heart of everything they do. In turn, their employees have recognised them as truly the Best Places to Work in 2020. In addition, this year’s winners stand out for providing exceptional career growth opportunities and encouraging work which is driven by impact and purpose. Congratulations go to all of the companies this year who stand out in the eyes of their employees.”

Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work were determined using company reviews shared by UK-based employees between 23rd October 2018 and 21st October 2019.
