Arup received recognition for our work on TE2 Woodlands Station on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) at this year’s Institution of Engineers, Singapore’s (IES) Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award.
Announced during the World Engineers’ Summit, themed ‘Engineering towards a Post-Pandemic Sustainable World’, our team was presented an award in the Engineering Projects category for an innovative approach that significantly enhanced existing practice and achieved social, economic and environmental benefits.

This was a successful partnership between LTA and Arup, where all parties were aligned in pushing for technical excellence and innovation to deliver the best outcomes to serve our commuters for this critical transport. ” Goh Kok Hun Land Transport Authority

At the heart of our TE2 Woodlands Station design was a focus on designing better outcomes for people, places and the planet.
This aspiration drove our user-centric designs, including an alignment that reduced  walking time for commuters connecting between the North-South Line and the new TEL. It also enhanced integration with future development, reducing 6,000m2 in land sterilisation, and saving 8,120 tonnes of embodied carbon from an optimised cut and cover tunnel design.
