Arup has made an impact at Singapore’s prestigious Land Transport Excellence Awards for our work on two projects, Woodlands Station on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) and Paya Lebar Quarter (PLQ).
We were recognised as an outstanding team that exemplified design excellence in rail or road infrastructure in the category of Best Design Rail / Road Infrastructure – Project Partner.
Arup, in association with our architecture partners Aedas, designed the TE2 Woodlands interchange station with future-focused outcomes for people, places and the planet.
This aspiration drove our user-centric designs, including an alignment which noticeably reduced walking time for travellers connecting between the North-South Line and the new TEL platform. It also enhanced integration with future development, saving 6,000 m2 in land sterilisation and 8,120 tons of embodied carbon from an optimised cut-and-cover tunnel design.
We have previously received three other awards for Woodlands Station including the BCA Design and Engineering Safety Awards, the Association for Consulting Engineers Singapore’s Design Excellence Awards and the IES Prestigious Engineering Awards.
