One of the largest-scale awarding bodies in public-private partnerships (P3s), the P3 Awards recognize excellence in advisory services throughout the Americas. After winning silver for Technical Advisor of the Year last year, we are currently finalists for the Technical Advisor of the Year, the Financial Advisor of the Year, and the Culture and Diversity award.

Arup’s notable P3 work includes the Presidio Parkway highway transformation project in San Francisco. Through our financial and technical analysis, we recommended a design-build-finance-operate-maintain (DBFOM) approach which represented the best value for money and ultimately allowed the major construction project to be delivered on time and at a lower cost than traditional procurement methods in California. The long-term operations and maintenance contract also ensures that the roadway will be in safe, and excellent, condition for the next 30 years.

Arup's advisory team developed a robust financial and project delivery plan for the Presidio Parkway that was both affordable and minimised short and long term risks.

We also provided advisory services for the new Long Beach Civic Center opening this month. Our team helped guide the City of Long Beach through a procurement model uniquely suited for their needs, specifically their need to move quickly out of their existing seismically unsafe facilities. The DBFOM delivery model incentivized timely and on-budget completion, and the project was streamlined from a three-to-five-year development process to just over two years.

In addition, Arup is acting as lead financial advisor for the Los Angeles Street Civic Building. This P3 project is the first for the City of Los Angeles and the first step in a 15-year plan to develop a new civic center.

Arup’s dedicated advisory services team supports government entities, infrastructure investors, and lenders worldwide. We integrate financial, technical, and commercial expertise regarding the development, investment, and financing of capital assets. We also act as an impartial advisor to clients across a diverse range of sectors including energy, real estate, social infrastructure, transportation, and water. Our services span the entire project cycle from feasibility through to financing and performance enhancement, and cover five main areas: strategy and economics, infrastructure advisory, due diligence, program and project management, and asset management.

The P3 Award entries will be judged by a panel of 80 industry experts, and winners will be announced at their awards gala in New York on 3 October.
