Arup, the global design and consultancy firm for the built environment, has appointed Ramón Rodríguez as its new leader in Spain. With a solid professional track record of more than 20 years in the firm, Ramón has assumed the new position as of 1 April and will lead a team of more than 230 people.
For several years he has combined the management of the local energy business team at Spain with being responsible for Arup's global Urban Energy Advisory Business. To date, as Energy Market Leader and Advisory Practice Leader for Arup in Spain, Ramón has participated in many national and international sustainable building and planning projects and has been responsible for the design of sustainable energy and decarbonisation strategies in multiple urban environments.
Ramón Rodríguez, together with a wide team of accredited sustainability advisors, has pioneered the implementation of international sustainability certifications such as LEED and BREEAM in Spain. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the Green Building Council Spain since 2010.
Over recent years, he has worked for international financial institutions, such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank, as well as for private infrastructure funds or corporate clients, providing consultancy services in sustainability and energy and climate change.
