Sustainable design recognised at Green Building Awards

Two Taikoo Place – Grand Award in the New Buildings category: projects under construction and/or design –commercial

Two Taikoo Place has been designed and constructed with sustainability at its heart throughout the entire project lifecycle, encompassing occupant well-being, digital systems and innovations.

As the sustainable design consultant as well as civil, structural and façade engineer, we have incorporated numerous innovative initiatives in the project to reduce climate change impacts and optimise resource efficiency, while achieving low whole lifecycle carbon impact and supporting World Green Building Council’s Advancing Net Zero campaign. Arup’s bespoke digital platform Neuron will also be adopted to enable a data-driven approach for smart building operation.

The Henderson – Grand Award in the New Buildings category: projects under construction and/or design – commercial

The Henderson is designed with state-of-the-art technologies and richly equipped with green design features to create a workplace that is safe, pleasant and sustainable.

Our patented designs, Solar Responsive Ventilation and the lift sterilisation system, will be adopted to ensure occupants’ wellness and health. Through top-notch IT infrastructural support, The Henderson will enable the best-customised control and highly intelligent building management to lead the industry to advance sustainability.

InnoCell – Grand Award in the New Buildings category: completed projects – residential and Special Citation on UN Sustainable Development Goals

InnoCell is the first high-rise building in Hong Kong to adopt modular integrated construction (MiC) technology. It serves as a modern smart living and co-creation community, offering 393 residential units for talent and incubates from the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks.

Arup’s MEP team provided system design and technical coordination advisory services. Our use of digital technologies including building information modelling (BIM) throughout the MiC construction process improved building productivity and safety, construction quality and sustainability.

Grand Central – Grand Award in the New Buildings category: completed projects – commercial

Grand Central is a major part of the Kwun Tong Town Centre redevelopment project, the largest of its kind undertaken by the Urban Renewal Authority, with the site spanning over 50,000m2 involving more than 3,000 residents.

Arup’s patented product Air Induction Units was installed in the public transport interchange entrance to enhance airflow for users’ thermal comfort and wellness in the waiting area.

This biennial award is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council and the Professional Green Building Council. It recognises building-related projects and organisations with outstanding performance and contributions to the sustainable built environment while advocating wider adoption of green building practices throughout the entire building lifecycle.
