Our commitment to engineering excellence, sustainability, and innovation was recognised in spades at the Consult Australia 2025 Awards for Excellence, where our people and projects achieved a clean sweep winning six awards.
As a result of the multiple award tally, Arup was named Large Firm of the Year, a prestigious award we last won for three consecutive years in 2020, 2019, and 2018, leading to our induction into Consult Australia’s Hall of Fame in 2022. Inductees into the Hall of Fame are honoured for their unparalleled excellence in their respective fields; however, inductees aren't eligible for the Large Firm award for two years.
Kerryn Coker, Co-Chair of Arup Australasia, expressed her delight at the achievements:
“Huge congratulations to all – it was an amazing evening and fabulous to win so many awards. This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and innovative spirit of our teams across Australia. This year is particularly special as it marks the first year we were eligible for the Large Firm of the Year award since our induction into the Hall of Fame in 2022.”
We received the following accolades:
Collaboration for Project Excellence award (winner) for Sydney Metro Martin Place Integrated Station Development: This project set a new industry benchmark by integrating a world-class metro station with two new commercial towers and a pedestrian tunnel, highlighting the importance of collaboration in achieving engineering excellence.
The Planning for a Digital Future award (winner) for OCTO: A future-focused digital tool for internal use on Arup’s offshore wind farm engineering projects. OCTO leverages technology and insights to support clients in strategising more cost-effective inter-array cable layouts, reducing barriers to sustainable energy sources.
The Superior Sustainability award (winner) for our program to catalysing a new supply chain for sustainable concrete: by driving initiatives to develop environmentally sustainable concrete, we have achieved a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions on nearly $6 billion worth of Australian infrastructure projects.
The Innovation for Excellence award (Commended) for WS2: our new home in WA, Perth’s first timber hybrid office tower, demonstrates that developers can achieve sustainability targets without compromising on quality or profitability. The fitout follows the Living Building Challenge framework, creating buildings that are environmentally friendly and regenerative.
The Future Leader award (finalist) for Dr Sam (Dr Fangjie) Chen for his groundbreaking work to develop new concrete formulations, along with Arup’s research and industry partners, that have enabled the replacement of cement with alternative, sustainable materials, while achieving the same strength and 100-year durability, dramatically reducing in the carbon footprint of concrete across the infrastructure eco-system.
Future Net Program Project: Congratulations to Jisun Chang’s whose team project Fortify took out the People’s Choice Award.
We congratulate all the winners and those who entered from right across the industry. We are proud to be part of the consulting and professional services community in Australia where members continually strive to make a difference to society and the environment through the work we do and the projects we deliver. We thank Consult Australia for its partnership and advocacy and for its ongoing commitments to celebrating excellence from across the industry.
