Arup celebrates its 30th anniversary in Spain
Over the past 30 years, Arup in Spain has contributed to more than 1,800 projects that highlight the firm’s commitment to making a positive impact on the built environment.

To celebrate Arup’s 30th anniversary in Spain, the Madrid office recently held a commemorative event at the Mandarin Oriental Ritz Hotel in Madrid, bringing together the firm’s main partners, clients, and collaborators from the public and private sectors.
Over the past 30 years, Arup in Spain has contributed to more than 1,800 projects that highlight the firm’s commitment to making a positive impact on the built environment. Since the firm’s inception in Spain, the office has grown to more than 300 people.
Ramón Rodríguez, Group Leader of Arup in Spain, welcomed more than 300 attendees to the event and noted the rich history of Arup in Spain, while addressing the challenges and opportunities the firm has dealt with over the past 30 years.
Ramón also reminded the audience of some of Arup's most emblematic projects in the country, such as the firm's first project, the Thyssen Bornemisza National Museum, as well as Madrid Nuevo Norte and the refurbishment of the Mandarin Oriental Ritz Hotel. Ramon also highlighted the firm’s integral roles on national and international landmarks such as La Sagrada Familia and Metropol Parasol.
We are very proud of our thirty-year history in Spain; a history that also drive us to continue innovating and providing solutions that are adapted to the needs of our clients. Our clients drive us to focus on the future that unites us, and to continue building a better world. We need courage to innovate, to constantly explore and step out of our comfort zones. The climate emergency, the challenge of digitalisation, among others, need action. The investment is already there, let's combine it with the capacity to create, communicate and realise solid and viable projects
