Construction Management Team of the Year
Project: Kai Tak Sports Park

Arup, as part of the Kai Tak Sports Park Project Team, was named Construction Management Team of the Year for delivering one of Hong Kong’s most ambitious and complex sports infrastructure projects. The project’s scale and complexity are unparalleled, featuring a stadium with indoor bowl cooling, 15,000 tonnes of steel structure, 55,000 m² of façade coverage, a retractable roof, stage pocket, and fire monitor. The team utilised full BIM to achieve transformative innovations, including the precise heavy lifting of 6,000 tonnes of trusses, rationalisation of façade panels from 43,000 to 27,000 pieces, and patented AI technology for coordination and drawing generation. These efforts resulted in up to 1,000 tonnes of steel savings and significant carbon emission reductions through design optimisation.

Environmental Impact Award – Highly Commended
Project: The carbon removal potential of trees for new development area of Hong Kong

Arup was recognised for its groundbreaking work on the carbon removal potential of trees for Hong Kong’s new development area. This collaborative project redefined urban tree carbon measurement by developing an empirically grounded methodology and creating a dynamic live database tailored to Hong Kong’s climate and ecological context. The initiative will significantly contribute to Hong Kong’s carbon neutrality goals by establishing a credible database, guiding future urban and landscape design, and maximising environmental benefits.

PropTech Innovation of the Year – Highly Commended
Project: Digital Twin for new development area

Arup’s partnership with the Civil Engineering and Development Department was honoured for delivering a pioneering Digital Twin Project that transforms town planning through innovation, sustainability, and collaboration. The Digital Twin Framework and Standardisation Guideline enable New Development Area projects to develop real-time data, spatial analytics, and scenario modelling, supporting smarter, greener, and more resilient city development across project stages. This project sets a benchmark for digital transformation in the built environment, equipping the industry with tools for innovation and collaboration beyond geographic boundaries.

These awards not only affirm the professionalism and innovative capabilities of the Arup team and our partners, but also reinforce our commitment to driving sustainable development in Hong Kong’s built environment.
