Arup has successfully advised Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park Limited (HSITPL) in attaining WiredScore Neighborhood and SmartScore Neighborhood accreditations for the development of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park (HSITP). This makes HSITP the first mixed-use development in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region to achieve these certifications, which recognise its outstanding digital connectivity and smart technology capabilities.
We also supported HSITP’s Building 8 and Building 9, the wet laboratory enabled buildings, in obtaining Platinum WiredScore certification: Office (development) – the highest certification from WiredScore, for its exceptional technological readiness in meeting the digital requirements of occupiers.
Strategically located in the Lok Ma Chau Loop, HSITP is part of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, the world’s first cross-boundary I&T development project. As an I&T bridgehead, HSITP serves as a “super- connector” and leverages the synergies between Hong Kong and Shenzhen to attract top enterprises, research and development (R&D) institutions and higher education institutes from around the world. The WiredScore Neighborhood and SmartScore Neighborhood accreditations recognise HSITPL’s commitment to creating an exceptional environment that delivers a connected, inspiring, safe and sustainable experience for the community living and working there, while promoting innovation and technology.
Leveraging our expertise in digital services and multidisciplinary capabilities, we assessed the design of HSITP’s batch one development at the district scale, including the masterplan and individual buildings. The assessment covered a wide range of aspects, including ICT infrastructure, IoT and smart building applications, digital platforms implementation, cybersecurity and data strategy. We identified areas for improvement and provided recommendations to ensure the design meets the highest standards and is future-ready, addressing the stringent requirements of its life sciences, R&D and tech occupiers.
WiredScore, the organisation behind the WiredScore and SmartScore certifications, is the global rating scheme for digital connectivity and smart building in real estate, helping landlords design and promote buildings with powerful digital connectivity and smart capabilities.
