Arup individual recognised for innovation in aviation at MCA Awards 2025
Toby Fairhurst wins MCA Rising Star award 2025 in recognition of leadership and commitment to sustainability in aviation.

An Arup member was honoured at this year’s Management Consultancies Association (MCA) Awards.
Toby Fairhurst, a Project Manager and Consultant based in Arup’s London office won the MCA Rising Star Award in recognition of his leadership, strategic thinking and commitment to sustainability through his role in delivering innovative solutions at London Heathrow Airport.
Since joining Arup, Toby has demonstrated exceptional expertise and leadership in delivering innovative solutions at London Heathrow Airport, particularly in the carbon & sustainability programme.
Toby has earned a reputation as a trusted advisor by navigating complex technical, logistical and political challenges. He has successfully led projects that optimise aircraft movements, reducing unnecessary queuing and carbon emissions.
He has wider impact in the aviation sector through his involvement in the government’s ‘Reach for the Sky Project’ which promoted the diverse range of careers in the sector to school and college students, and he is a regular collaborator with the British Aviation Group Next Generation Forum.
