Arup congratulates Brian Swett, Americas East Leader and Principal, for his appointment as Chair of the Board of the Urban Land Institute's Randall Lewis Center for Sustainability in Real Estate.
Dedicated to creating healthy, resilient, and high performing communities around the world, the Center provides leadership and support to real estate and land use professionals to invest in energy efficient, healthy, and sustainable buildings and neighborhoods.
Swett is a nationally recognized leader in climate change and sustainability, with more than 20 years of experience working with municipal governments, private sector organizations, federal governments, and nonprofits. His expertise includes sustainability strategy, energy and climate policy, green buildings, and performance management. He has played an integral role in numerous joint projects between Arup and the Urban Land Institute, including the Global Climate Policy Scan, which is now available to all ULI members; the ULI Net Zero Imperative, a multi-year initiative to accelerate decarbonization across the built environment; the recent launch of Risk Factor Pro, a tool developed by First Street Foundation that utilizes Arup’s data-driven risk models; and Arup’s founding sponsorship of the ULI’s annual Resilience Summit.
In addition to his role at the Randall Lewis Center, Swett currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce's Energy and Climate Leadership Council and is a member of the Boston Green Ribbon Commission. He is also a Board Member of the Environmental Protection Network. Prior to joining Arup, Swett served as the Chief of Environment, Energy and Open Space for the City of Boston under Mayor Tom Menino and Mayor Marty Walsh.
