The Empower Role Model Lists, supported by YouTube, celebrate individuals who are helping to create workplaces where people feel valued, included and able to thrive. The annual lists shine a spotlight on role models using their influence, leadership and lived experience to drive meaningful change across global organisations.
Hari Patel, Rachel Taylor and Jim Bell were recognised across different categories for their work advancing race equity, championing allyship and fostering a culture where colleagues feel they belong.
Hari Patel, Senior Engineer and Community & Allies Lead for ConnectRACE at Arup, said:
“I’m honoured to be recognised in this year’s Empower Future Leaders Role Models Lists. Inclusion is about creating spaces where people feel able to share lived experiences, explore their identities and shape the organisations and communities they are part of.
“Through Arup’s ConnectRACE Network, I’ve seen how powerful these conversations can be in building understanding, connection, and support. This recognition is a reflection of the many Arup colleagues who continue to build a community where people feel heard, represented and proud of who they are.”
Rachel Taylor, Director, UKIMEA Fire Safety Practice Leader & South Culture Equity and Inclusion Champion, at Arup:
“It’s a privilege to be included in this year’s Empower Future Leaders Role Models Lists. Representation matters, and this recognition highlights the importance of creating workplaces where people from all backgrounds have the opportunity to excel, progress and fulfil their potential.
“Throughout my career, I have seen that the strongest teams are built when inclusive leadership is reflected in everyday leadership behaviours and decisions - through how leaders support, develop and create opportunities for others.
“I’m proud to work with colleagues across Arup who are committed to building a more equitable workplace and helping future generations thrive.”
Jim Bell, Director and Global Sports & Entertainment Market Leader at Arup, said:
“I’m delighted to be recognised in this year’s Empower Advocates Role Model List. Inclusion matters to me both personally and professionally, and I believe allyship is demonstrated through everyday actions, the conversations we have, and the opportunities we create for people to contribute and succeed.
“There is always more to do, but I’m proud to play a part in creating a culture where people feel heard, valued and able to bring their whole selves to work. I believe the greatest progress comes when different perspectives are welcomed and people have the confidence to influence change."
Their recognition reflects the commitment of colleagues across Arup who are helping to create a more inclusive organisation. These achievements demonstrate the impact our people are having in building a workplace where everyone can contribute, grow and thrive.
