For the seventh year running, Arup is proud to have been named one of the Greater Toronto Area’s (GTA’s) top employers by the Greater Toronto Top Employers competition organized by Mediacorp Canada Inc.
Employers are evaluated against eight criteria that include physical workplace; work atmosphere and social life; health, financial, and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement. They are also evaluated against other organizations in their industry and selected based on outstanding human resource programming and forward-thinking, inclusive workplace practices.

Investing in ongoing employee development, offering generous tuition subsidies for job-related courses

Offering profit-sharing for all employees as well as generous referral bonuses for employees who successfully refer a candidate from their personal network

Helping employees balance personal and professional commitments with a variety of flexible work arrangements including hybrid arrangements, flexible hours, compressed work weeks and a telecommuting option giving employees the ability to work in a different country for up to 20 working days during a 12-month rolling period
In the past, Arup was also recognized as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People in recognition of the company’s excellent networking and development programs, which include an internship program with orientation, networking opportunities, and panels featuring industry leaders. In addition, Arup partners with Toronto Metropolitan University to pair women technical leads at Arup with women engineering students and offers a networking series for early-career professionals.
Arup has had a presence in Canada for over 20 years. With offices in Toronto, Montreal, and most recently Calgary, where we assist with the planning and design of prominent projects in the built environment. Our work helps to shape our cities through better transportation, healthcare, education, recreation, and commercial infrastructure across Canada and beyond. Some example projects in the GTA include the Omnia Bio B commercial-scale cell and gene therapy manufacturing facility at Hamilton’s McMaster Innovation Park, the Finch West LRT, OnCorr, the largest project in GO Transit’s expansion program, City of Toronto Green Infrastructure Standards, and the University of Toronto Mississauga’s Centre for Medicinal Chemistry. In 2023, Arup also won the prestigious Canadian Consulting Engineering Award of Excellence for project management of Calgary’s Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre.
