Global sustainable development consultancy Arup continues to strengthen its capability in the Offshore Wind sector with the engagement of Mairead Atcheson Cruz and Joao Cruz, who have recently been appointed to the firm’s Offshore Wind team in Europe.
Reinforcing the firm’s commitment to offshore renewable energy and Arup's position as one of Reuters' ‘50 offshore wind companies to watch in 2024’, Mairead and Joao bring substantial experience in designing large offshore structures, with a particular focus on XXL monopiles and floating foundations. Their expertise extends to project development, technology design, innovation and expert analysis in the offshore renewables sector.
“As we continue to partner with our clients and respond to the challenges of climate change and energy security through renewable energy projects, we’re thrilled to announce the expansion of our Offshore Wind team with the arrival of Mairead Atcheson Cruz and Joao Cruz. With their knowledge and experience, I am looking forward to seeing our work expand even further in the offshore wind sector”, said Michael Daly, Europe Region Energy Business Leader.
Over the last twenty years, the pair has worked on multiple flagship projects across Europe, North & South America, and Southeast Asia, covering foundation design, turbine selection and supply, and certification support.
With their leading global expertise in offshore wind, Mairead and Joao will help expand the firm’s influence across the Iberia region, with a particular focus on emerging European markets, and in technical & advisory support across the offshore wind supply chain.
Joao Cruz further commented that, “Joining forces with Arup allows us to provide additional services to existing and new clients, at a time of great interest in offshore wind across Europe and beyond. The joint tradition in nurturing engineering talent, and our local presence in Portugal, further expand the potential to enhance the partnership at a time where engineering critical mass is vital to the sector.”
