Arup is proud to announce its appointment by the Queensland Government to lead the integrated masterplan for the Victoria Park Precinct, a transformative project central to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The precinct, which includes the future Brisbane Stadium, National Aquatic Centre, and Brisbane Athlete Village, will be reimagined as a vibrant hub for sport, recreation, and community life. Arup will deliver the foundational planning, design, and technical investigations to shape this generational infrastructure investment.
During the 2032 Games, the precinct and stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies within walking distance of the Brisbane Athletes Village, accommodating more than 10,000 athletes and officials during the Olympic Games and over 5,000 during the Paralympic Games.
The first phase of the detailed master-planning process for the Victoria Park Precinct is the development of the Infrastructure Structure Plan which will include technical site investigations, planning and design the major pieces of connectivity and public realm infrastructure to support infrastructure delivery and ensure visitors can move seamlessly around the precinct.
The masterplan will focus on world-class and public and green spaces, improving connectivity, and creating connectivity through transport integration, and seamless experiences for the thousands expected to enjoy the precinct during and long after the Games.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie, said the Victoria Park Precinct Master Plan was critical in shaping Queensland’s Olympic and Paralympic legacy.
“Bringing on board global experts marks a major step in delivering generational infrastructure that will leave a lasting legacy for Queensland. The industry’s enthusiasm for this project has been fantastic, and I’m confident Arup will maximise outcomes for Queenslanders as we create a precinct that will be celebrated long after the Games are over.
Arup Project Director Penny Hall said Arup was honoured to partner with the Queensland Government on this landmark project.
“Our track record includes working hand-in-hand with communities, partners, and governments to deliver not only a world-class Olympic and Paralympic Games in London, but also a legacy that continues to thrive nearly 15 years later. We bring deep experience from global events such as the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, where our integrated planning and infrastructure expertise helped shape vibrant, resilient host cities.
“From the Sydney 2000 Games through to Paris and now Brisbane, our approach to masterplanning is grounded in a once-in-a-generation lens - one that aligns with the Queensland Government’s bold vision for the Victoria Park Precinct. The opportunity to reimagine the inner Brisbane precinct as a world-class hub for recreation, events, entertainment, and lifestyle as a lasting legacy for Queenslanders well beyond the Games is both familiar and tremendously exciting for our team to be a part of.”
Arup will collaborate with the Queensland Government, Brisbane City Council, and the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA) to ensure integrated outcomes. Community consultation will play a pivotal role in shaping the precinct’s public realm and parklands.
