Arup’s masterplan for Buenavista Sustainable Business Park developed for Malaga City Council, has won the fourth edition of the LandTalks awards.
The Land Talks 2025 event in Madrid brought together institutional representatives and professionals from the public and private sectors to examine the current state of the land and urban management market as well as associated challenges.
Buenavista is a transformative project spanning over 80 hectares in a rapidly evolving area of Malaga, and a catalyst for the city’s commitment to a new urban model centered on innovation. The development features more than 1,360 new homes, an advanced logistics center, and the Buenavista Sustainable Business Park, together offering over 300,000 sqm dedicated to advanced economic activities – including industrial, office, and complementary spaces tailored for companies that drive innovation and sustainable economy.
Arup’s teams in Madrid provided an integrated service offering to the client, including urban planning and design services, landscaping, architecture, infrastructure, mobility, and environmental services.
Arup’s masterplan is based on three key strategies: driving economic growth through advanced industries and circular economy; promoting environmental regeneration by connecting natural spaces and restoring a degraded stream; and fostering strong social cohesion, by enhancing the residential fabric to create a more connected and vibrant city.
Buenavista aims to attract international economic activity rooted in sustainability and social responsibility. Designed with the highest standards in sustainability and circularity, the development seeks to reflect the values of the forward-thinking companies it seeks to attract.
Flavio Tejada, Strategic Planning and Advisory Services Director, Arup, said: “In a well-established city with great potential like Malaga, we have supported the municipality to transform an underdeveloped area into an innovation hub. We take pride in seeing these new models of urban planning, marking the future of the built environment, receive public acclaim.”
