Arup, a leading sustainable development and engineering consultancy, has opened an office in Calgary. The global firm has had a presence in Canada for more than 20 years, with two other offices in Toronto and Montreal.

Dedicated to sustainable development, Arup is a collective over 18,000 designers, advisors and experts working on projects across 140 countries. Arup’s infrastructure, building, climate and sustainability, digital and planning expertise is recognized worldwide.

Arup’s portfolio of work in Calgary already includes: 

  • The Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre for which it won the 2023 Canadian Consulting Engineering Award of Excellence for project management

  • A recently signed agreement with the City of Calgary to conduct a planning study for an airport rail link 

Arup is eager to grow its presence in Western Canada at a pivotal moment for Alberta’s energy transition. The new office will prioritize renewable energy, healthcare, and downtown revitalization in the region, three sectors that are experiencing major growth and investment. 

Simon Stephenson, a principal at the firm, will lead the new office as it supports a range of projects across Calgary and Alberta. Arup brings deep expertise and global perspective to advance innovative projects and drive transition and diversification in the province and across Canada.
