Arup’s innovative solutions have won five awards at the BIM Automation Arena, demonstrating our digital expertise in pushing the boundaries of design automation in the industry.

Among the winning solutions, our Total Design Automation (TDA) platform has been honoured with the Best Innovation Award, as well as the Bronze Award in the Software applications (standalone/SaaS) corporate category.

It focusses on providing the platform – overarching usability principles, architecture and infrastructure – enabling digital developments to work in concert, rather than isolation. TDA allows the orchestration of complex workflows to realise the most challenging designs. All aspects of designs can be automated, from engineering calculations to the production of reports and BIM models.

Other winning solutions include:

  • Large scale multidisciplinary design automation on the MTR Sui Ho Wan Depot development project – Bronze Award, Visual programming (Corporate)

  • Implementation of a digital workflow in the structural design of a complex steel roof structure, Seashell - Phu Quoc Aquarium – Honourable Mention, Visual programming (Corporate)

  • builder’s work drawing generation tools by Kaden Lin – Honourable Mention, Visual programming (Individual)

Organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Building Information Modelling (HKIBIM), the BIM Automation Arena was the first competition of its kind in Hong Kong that focussed specifically on the combination of BIM and automation approaches.

We are proud to be recognised as advancing design automation to a new level. TDA is at the core of our digital transformation, and it is allowing our designers to deliver their work more efficiently, more accurately, in a better coordinated way – leading to better designs for our clients.
