The New Taipei City Art Museum has been awarded the 2025 Taiwan Architecture Award – First Prize in recognition of its transformative site renewal, exemplary craftsmanship, and outstanding technical achievement. This marks the third First Prize awarded to projects involving Arup, following previous wins in 2017 for the Taipei Tennis Centre and in 2024 for the National Taiwan University Humanities Building.
Designed by Artech, the Museum is New Taipei City’s first major cultural landmark and a catalyst for the region’s ongoing regeneration. The project stands as a leading example of how sustainability and architectural vision can be seamlessly integrated in Taiwan.
Arup provided sustainability, structural, and MEP engineering services for the Museum. Building on a design concept inspired by the rhythm and lightness of reed landscapes, we helped shape a harmonious relationship between architecture and environment. Our team collaborated closely with Artech to incorporate sustainable strategies into the building form and façade design, applying CFD modelling and microclimate analyses to support high-performance, climate-responsive solutions from competition stage through to completion.
The resulting museum not only restores and reactivates its former waste disposal site but also establishes a resilient cultural asset delivering long-term social and environmental value to New Taipei City.
