Sustainable projects honoured at Quality Building Award
Arup has contributed to a total of 11 projects honoured at the Quality Building Award 2022, including three buildings that received the highest accolades.

The success demonstrates our efforts and achievement to push for the highest standard of smart, sustainable and superior buildings.
InnoCell, Hong Kong
InnoCell won the Grand Award in the Hong Kong residential (Single building) category, plus the overall Quality Excellence Award – judged to be the best among all Grand Award winners. As the first high-rise building in the city to adopt modular integrated construction (MiC) technology, it serves as a modern smart living and co-creation community for talent and incubates from the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks.
Arup’s MEP team provided system design and technical coordination. The use of digital technologies including building information modelling (BIM) throughout the MiC construction process improved building productivity and safety, construction quality and sustainability.
Central Market, Hong Kong
Central Market was honoured with the Grand Award in the Hong Kong building (Renovation / revitalisation) category, as well as the overall Sustainable Development Award. Built in 1939, the ex-Central Market building has been revitalised to combine modern functionality with historical significance, featuring adaptive reuse of the Grade III historic building in harmony with new construction.
As the structural engineer of the project, Arup carried out extensive repair works using various technologies and methods to reinstate the building with minimum alternations to its structure and appearance.
Taikoo Li Qiantan, Shanghai
Taikoo Li Qiantan clinched the top award in the Building outside Hong Kong category. Echoing the ‘Taikoo Li’ brand, the development adopts a naturalistic and open-plan design. It is slated to be the heart of urban living in Qiantan and brings a quality urban space that puts wellness and sustainable living at the centre.
Arup provided a full range of services for the project spanning MEP, structural and façade design and review. Through integrating materials for the façade and optimising the structure and space, we helped deliver the concept of wellness and achieve both WELL Platinum certification and LEED Gold certification.
