A joint venture (JV) of Arup and AtkinsRéalis has has been appointed by the Civil Engineering and Development Department and Planning Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government to provide consultancy services for the planning and engineering study for the Lung Kwu Tan reclamation and the re-planning of the Tuen Mun West Area.

The JV will conduct various planning and engineering studies to strategically transform the areas for modern, advanced and high value-added economic industries, as well as potential residential development.

This study is of great importance to Hong Kong’s future as it will increase land supply for residential, commercial and industrial use, as well as aligning with the government’s decarbonisation strategies, targets and actions for achieving carbon neutrality before 2050. It will formulate land use proposals and assess the technical feasibilities of transport and other infrastructure, taking into consideration the geographic advantage of its proximity to the Hong Kong International Airport and the Pearl River Delta area, as well as the connectivity with a number of existing and planned road and railway facilities.

Arup has been contributing our expertise to many major strategic projects in Northwest New Territories. With our wealth of experience in engineering, planning and sustainable development, we are uniquely positioned to support the government for Hong Kong’s long-term socio-economic growth and development.
