8 Chifley is one of Sydney’s greenest buildings and marked our first collaboration with Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and Lippmann Partnership in Australia.

Arup came to Australia in 1963 to undertake the structural design of the Sydney Opera House. We now employ over 2,000 staff working from ten offices across the country and have developed a diverse practice through delivering a wide range of projects for public and private sector clients. Our desire to shape a better world ensures our clients receive smart design ideas with a social purpose, which will have a positive influence for current and future generations. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where our offices are located and where our projects take place. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging, and to all Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islanders. We recognise and celebrate their cultures, traditions and protocols.

Adelaide

Adelaide is South Australia’s thriving coastal capital and one of the world’s most liveable cities - due in part to the superior transportation and city planning infrastructure making most major points in the city reached within 20 minutes.

For over two decades we have been involved in many city-significant projects across the state.

We are shaping strategy around public transport in South Australia through the development of a wayfinding rule book for the South Australia Public Transport Authority that will make public transport easier to navigate; and undertaking a study to better understanding current and future transport needs at the Flinders Tonsley precinct.

Our people are pushing construction boundaries - the level crossing removal of Oaklands Rail Crossing has improved both the traffic flow and rail network operations at a key city intersection, we have been instrumental in multiple sections of the North South Corridor including Northern Connector and Regency Road to Pym Street projects that are connecting communities and providing a vital freight and commuter link– all are key pieces of state-significant infrastructure.

State of the art design technologies transformed Adelaide Oval into a world class stadium, and redeveloped the iconic Her Majesty’s Theatre, while the Adelaide Botanic High School offers ‘future focused’ learning spaces for an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning.

We continue to shape several components of one of the largest health and life science clusters in the Southern Hemisphere. We are improving healthcare provision with the new Royal Adelaide Hospital and Adelaide Dental Hospital, and medical training and research with the Adelaide Health and Medical Sciences Building and the University of South Australia Cancer Research Institute.
