8 Chifley is one of Sydney’s greenest buildings and marked our first collaboration with Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and Lippmann Partnership in Australia.
Arup came to Australia in 1963 to undertake the structural design of the Sydney Opera House. We now employ over 2,000 staff working from ten offices across the country and have developed a diverse practice through delivering a wide range of projects for public and private sector clients. Our desire to shape a better world ensures our clients receive smart design ideas with a social purpose, which will have a positive influence for current and future generations. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where our offices are located and where our projects take place. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging, and to all Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islanders. We recognise and celebrate their cultures, traditions and protocols.

One of Australia's fastest growing cities, Brisbane is the cosmopolitan heart of Queensland. Arup established a presence here in 1978.
Arup has been responsible for a number of city shaping and landmark infrastructure projects including Brisbane Airport Link – Australia's largest ever road infrastructure project – Cross River Rail and Gold Coast Light rail Stage one. In south east Queensland we are creating Australia’s first diverging diamond interchange with the Bruce Highway Upgrade and Coomera Interchange Exit 54.
We’ve connected communities with Kurilpa Bridge the world’s first tensegrity pedestrian bridge and New Farm Riverwalk and Anna Meares Velodrome in preparation for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Our work in Brisbane has a strong sustainable focus with the Global Change Institute being the first carbon neutral building in Australia and the structurally unique One One One Eagle Street.
With close links to all levels of government and major contractors, Arup’s involvement in the city's future development will continue to be significant as the city strives for modern, sustainable infrastructure solutions.
