Arup has a special affinity to Denmark, where founder Sir Ove Arup was partly raised and educated. We provide a collaborative and holistic approach to complex projects, described by Ove in his 1970 key speech as "Total Architecture" – or the notion that great things can result when "all relevant design decisions have been considered together and have been integrated into a whole by a well-organised team." We have a growing office in Copenhagen and also collaborate with colleagues globally to bring international expertise to local projects.

We have been delivering landmark projects in Denmark for many years – whether as lead consultant for the joint venture designing the Øresund Bridge, or as lead engineers for the Copenhagen Arena. We are also working with Copenhagen Airport, UNOPS, Vejdirektoratet and others, providing thoughtful, clear-sighted, and innovative solutions.

Copenhagen

The Danish capital is the economic and cultural centre in Denmark. Its strategic location and relatively central airport make it a regional hub for Scandinavia. Copenhagen is known for its high quality of life, green mobility and great design tradition.

Our office is located in the buzzing city centre next to direct metro links to the airport and train connections to Sweden and the rest of Denmark.

With a strong economy, Copenhagen is undergoing major changes that include new cultural offerings as well as upgrades to public transportation. Arup is part of this urban transformation, as the technical advisor for significant new cultural buildings like the BLOX project and the Copenhagen Arena. Helping to improve Copenhagen's already excellent transportation network, we are the engineers and architects for the new Cityringen and Nordhavn Metro projects, creating new connections in Copenhagen with 19 new stations.

Our specialists have successfully delivered projects ranging from designing the Øresund Bridge between Denmark and Sweden, Flintholm Station, and the Biogen factory, to securing the world-class acoustics of the Copenhagen Opera House.
