8 ChifleyOur first collaboration with Richard Rogers architects in Australia – one of Sydney’s greenest buildings.

Arup came to Australia in 1963 to undertake the structural design of the Sydney Opera House and we now work from seven offices across four key areas of influence: cities, connectivity, health, resources. Our desire to shape a better world ensures our clients receive smart design ideas with a social purpose, which will have a positive influence for current and future generations. We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and history of our region, and Arup's Indigenous Employment Strategy articulates our actions to broaden employment opportunities for Indigenous Australians into, and within, the firm.

Arup established its Perth office in 1969. For over 45 years we have shaped the city itself as well as the wider state of Western Australia.

Most recently, we have been designing community-minded, city-shaping infrastructure such as the Elizabeth Quay Pedestrian Bridge, Perth City Link and the expansion of Perth Airport. Our work included both the international and domestic terminals and supporting road infrastructure with commendations for our operational readiness work in making sure both Domestic Terminals 1 and 2 opened without any hitches.

We have been working with the City of Perth on transport planning, helping to understand population pressures within the central business district. We have been upgrading the Great Northern Highway, and at Curtin University we created an ambitious transport masterplan embracing new technologies that will help them achieve their 2030 vision.

Our work on the Scarborough Beach Masterplan is transforming this popular beach precinct, while offshore we are known for our major energy sector works, the Gorgon LNG and Ichthys LNG projects.

The new world-class Perth Stadium and Sports Precinct, with the Victoria Park Drive modifications to accommodate it, is expected to boost Perth’s profile considerably on the international sporting and cultural stage.
