Arup came to Australia in 1963 to undertake the structural design of the Sydney Opera House and we now work from eight offices across four key areas of influence: cities, connectivity, health, resources. Our desire to shape a better world ensures our clients receive smart design ideas with a social purpose, which will have a positive influence for current and future generations. We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and history of our region, and Arup's Indigenous Employment Strategy articulates our actions to broaden employment opportunities for Indigenous Australians into, and within, the firm.

Arup has been in Townsville since 2012 but it has been shaping the North Queensland region for over 20 years.

We are creating new community amenity with the North Queensland Stadium, enhanced tourism with the Gabul Way Magnetic Island Walkway and JCU Daintree Rainforest Observatory, while our Townsville Ring Road has made it easier for everyone to get around.

We have improved healthcare provision with the Cairns Hospital Redevelopment and teaching through the James Cook University, Clinical Practices Building, a state-of-the-art medical training facility.

We have a geographical spread of Papua New Guinea and the Torres Strait in the north, west to Mt Isa and as far south as Mackay.
