I am a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Engineering and Technology and have more than 20 years’ experience in the delivery of intelligent mobility schemes, studies and appraisals across the world. I lead Arup’s intelligent mobility operations in the UK and work on many of our commissions as a technical advisor, project manager and project director.

Intelligent mobility is a rapidly evolving space and I have particular interests in low carbon mobility, connected and autonomous vehicles and active travel and how these industry ‘disrupters’ will help define our transportation networks of the future as we look towards a ‘zero carbon’ environment.  We have recently supported Highways England with their national roll-out of electric vehicle charge points which included complex modelling work to predict demand patterns and the appointment and management of two providers – a first of a kind contract for Highways England, focussed on influencing EV uptake and usage.

I have a strong background in the leadership of smart motorways solutions, having undertaken secondment roles for key clients in the UK and having worked with international clients in Australia, America and the Middle East on the development of similar solutions.

Having a keen interest in business and people leadership, I also hold a postgraduate certificate in Leadership and Management, completed as part of a collaborative leadership programme with one of our key clients – Highways England and the Roads Academy programme.
