Alice Reis is the Australasia Rail Leader, helping clients to shape and deliver rail projects. This includes navigating changes in sustainability requirements, technology developments and policy, which impacts every aspect of how transport is delivered.

Based in Brisbane, she is passionate about providing more integrated, user-friendly transport experiences that are both good for people and the environment.

Alice provides a vast range of services to the rail sector and government clients, from business cases and planning studies to technical advisory and infrastructure implementation. With 25 years of experience with Arup, she is adept at managing complex, multi-year rail projects and diverse teams of experts.

She has the experience to think of every part of the railway puzzle – for example, tunnelling needs, overhead power lines, fire safety, passenger communications, cyber security and community impact – and makes sure they are all factored into decision making. Alice brings the right mix of experts from across Arup to each assignment, such as architects, engineers, environmental professionals and more, to achieve the best possible outcomes.

As a civil engineer, Alice’s career spans highways, airports, education and hospital infrastructure. She has a keen interest in infrastructure policy and developing the circular economy by reusing resources in development. Alice’s projects include managing technical advisory for the Cross River Rail in Queensland, Inland Rail from Melbourne to Brisbane and the Gold Coast Light Rail development.
