Alistair is a fire engineer based in Arup’s Sydney office. Through his work in the UK, Sydney and Australasia, he has delivered engineering solutions to a range of government and private clients, notably in the Healthcare, Education and Arts, Culture and Sport sectors.

His work helps shape and deliver project success through proactively working with clients to produce design solutions which are safe, economic, timely, flexible and functional. His experience incorporates leading teams to develop integrated fire strategies and fire risk assessments for a range of projects, and build trusted relationships to bring the best for the client and project, such as in his role as the Relationship Manager for the Sydney Opera House.

Alistair has represented Consult Australia for the development of the NSW Building Practitioners Bill and contributed to the organisations feedback to the Building Stronger Foundations consultation paper.

As Fire Skills Leader for Australasia, his role is to create the vision and structure to promote excellence in our skills and knowledge, and promote a collaborative and diverse community of fire safety engineers; respond to digital and sustainability priorities; and focus research and learning and development needs aligned with the business and new waves of specialism.
