My specialism is wind engineering. This includes directing studies on the effects of wind on the required strength and comfort of users of buildings and structures, and the impact of wind on people around tall or exposed building developments. Much of my work focuses on structures of unusual form, not fully covered by codes of practice, such as tall buildings, stadiums, telecommunications towers, observation wheels, long-span bridges and large sculptures. I am also engaged on forensic studies and in wind code development in the UK and internationally.

With over 45 years of professional experience at Arup, I have worked around the globe on some of the world's most iconic buildings, including the Shard and the Gherkin in London, the Canton Telecommunications Tower in Guangzhou, Torre de Collserola in Barcelona, Commerzbank in Frankfurt, and over much of Hong Kong.

Having been first exposed to ‘wind engineering’ in its early years while at Arup in 1973, I am passionate about continuing to develop the practice instilling technical and professional excellence in the next generation of wind engineers.
