I am a sustainability, carbon and climate change specialist and I lead Arup's environment and sustainability team across Scotland, Belfast and the North East of England. I am a mechanical engineer by background and have more than 20 years’ experience working on sustainable building designs and sustainability-driven masterplans across the UK, China and Russia.

In recent years, I have been working with both the UK and Scottish Government to provide low carbon energy advisory services, supporting the transition to net-zero carbon at a local and national level. I have also provided sustainability services for HS2, the Qatar World Cup and the SEC in Glasgow (host of COP26). My work cuts across technical, political, commercial, regulatory and operations to provide our clients with insightful and balanced advice at the highest level.

Through my role, I am to integrate urban planning and design, using human and natural systems-based approaches to deliver sustainable outcomes for people, cities and the planet.
